The King Baudouin Foundation was founded in 1976 to mark the 25th anniversary of King Baudouin’s reign. It is a public benefit foundation that supports projects and citizens with a commitment to build a better society. The Foundation promotes sustainable ways to foster justice, democracy and respect for diversity. As an independent, pluralist organization, it is active in Belgium, Europe and internationally.

Through a very diverse range of working methods, it supports priority issues such as migration and a multicultural society, poverty and social exclusion, civil society and voluntary work, health and philanthropy.

The Foundation has set up a Centre for Philanthropy, staffed by professional advisers who offer tailor-made services and guide donors through their philanthropic journey, step by step. The Centre for Philanthropy is active in Belgium, across Europe, in the US and internationally. From 2009 onwards, the King Baudouin Foundations is running its own Venture Philanthropy Fund.
