Michel Van Hemele

Michel Van Hemele has served as Managing Partner of Essensys since the company spun off from Ernst and Young in December 2004. He advises clients during critical stages of corporate life, i.e. large-scale change projects, major business developments and restructuring programmes. He also coaches temporary managers during finance and human resources assignments. Since 1989 he is International Management professor at the Faculty Economics and Management of H.U.Brussels.

Up to 2004, Michel Van Hemele served as CEO of Carestel, a catering and hotel company which he successfully turned around before it was acquired by Autogrill.
Prior to that, he spent 10 years with Solvus as CEO, a provider of temporary employment, secondment and recruitment services, which he developed into the second most profitable player active in 10 European countries.

After receiving his commercial engineering degree from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven and a master degree in commercial and financial sciences from EHSAL, Michel Van Hemele worked during 13 years in senior international management positions at Fortis.

Michel Van Hemele is also chairman of the board of Brewery Duvel Moortgat (Euronext Brussels) and a board member of a.o. Delta Lloyd Bank (subsidiary of Aviva plc, London), VOKA-VEV, Intys Consulting and a number of European growth companies.
